A TEACHING PRACTICE

Interchange General Practice is committed to helping train the doctors and nurses of the future and we have a close working relationship with the ANU Medical School with a number of Interchange General Practice doctors also working at the ANU. 

Dr Marjan Kljakovic is Professor of General Practice at the ANU Medical School and Dr Christine Phillips is Associate Professor in Social Foundations of Medicine. Dr David Harley is Associate Professor at the ANU's National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health.

The Practice has been recognized by the Royal Australian College of General practitioners as a teaching practice.

ACT Health Minister Katy Gallagher visited Interchange General Practice on 30 November to look at new computer stations funded by the ACT Government.

RESEARCH

Interchange General Practice is a regular participant in clinical trials eg lipodystrophy in HIV patients; IL-2 in HIV; surveillance study of people with H1N1 (swine flu).  The Practice has also initiated research eg on Care Plans (published in the Medical Journal of Australia) and Benzodiazapine contracts.
